Fear of What You Said is Now Happening

What happens when God asks us to do something that makes absolutely no sense? The story of Elijah and the widow of Zarephath in 1 Kings 17 pulls back the curtain on one of the most profound tensions in the life of faith: the collision between what we can see and what God is asking us to trust. Here we find two people, a prophet on the run and a destitute widow preparing her last meal, both standing at the edge of their own understanding, both being asked to step forward anyway. The central lesson is as relevant today as it was then: obedience is not reserved for the comfortable moments. It is forged in the hard ones. We are challenged to examine whether we have been choosing fear over faith when God has spoken clearly into our lives, and whether we have been trying to fix in our own strength what God has been waiting to handle all along.
