This is Only A Test

This powerful message takes us on a journey through Luke 22:31-33, where Jesus warns Simon Peter that Satan has demanded permission to sift the disciples like wheat. What's striking is that Jesus doesn't say He prayed to prevent the test—He says He prayed that Peter's faith would not fail during it. The imagery of wheat being sifted—tossed and shaken until only the pure grain remains—mirrors what happens in our lives when we face difficulties. God is removing the impurities, the rocks, the debris that doesn't belong. We often get frustrated with the shaking, but we miss the purpose of the action. The message challenges us to examine how we respond during our tests. Are we turning to God or turning away? Are we sitting down in the valley when we should be walking through it? Perhaps most convicting is the reminder that Jesus prayed for Peter in the past tense before the trial even came—meaning God already knows what we'll face and has already interceded on our behalf.
